About

Audio has been my life’s work

After more than three decades of audio production for Christian ministry organizations through staff positions and freelance contracts, I moved to full-time freelance in 2021, working from my home studio.

I have been involved in every phase of audio production: pre-production, recording, dialog editing, mixing, and mastering for long and short format broadcast programs, promotional spots, documentaries, specials, podcasts, and audiobooks.

My focus now is post-production: editing, mixing, and mastering, with particular attention to mastering, a much-needed step that is too often overlooked.

In this age of remote recording, voices captured in very different rooms and on different equipment are combined into a single program. Using specialized tools for noise reduction and tonal shaping, I bring those voices together into one uniform, natural sound with fewer distractions.

Three steps between a raw recording and a finished program

Dialog Editing

Timing is everything in recorded speech. Beyond removing extra pickups, mouth noises, and verbal crutches, I adjust the length of pauses and breaths, down to individual syllables when needed, always preserving the speaker’s own style and mannerisms. The result flows more naturally than the original recording.

Mixing

Music was a large part of my early work, and it built a keen sensitivity to the balance between music beds and voice-over narration, and to the timing and character of fades. That sensitivity produces the smoothest, most natural-sounding continuity for the listener.

Mastering

The important final step that many production houses fold into mixing or skip entirely. Consistent loudness, dynamic range, and EQ from the first minute of a program to the last, so your listeners never have to reach for the volume control mid-program.

“A listener enjoying playback through earbuds in a quiet room should never have to keep re-adjusting the volume within a single program. That is a problem the mastering engineer could have prevented.”

Rates

How I determine rates

Every project is different. Rates are based on the scope of work, the condition of the source recordings, the length of the finished program, and the turnaround time you need.

Send a short description of your project and, if possible, a sample of the raw audio. I will listen, tell you honestly what it needs, and give you a clear quote before any work begins.
